As of 30 August 2026, Barclays has no active £200 UK current-account switch offer for new applicants; Barclays says the promotion closed on 27 August. Its separate Premier experience reward also closed that day, although customers who already qualified can still receive their reward. The key distinction is between a closed application window and an outstanding reward. Existing claimants should check their completion date and eligibility, while prospective switchers must wait for a new offer rather than apply under the expired terms.

Who could qualify for the £200 payment?
The expired offer covered new UK-resident customers aged 18 or older. Applicants had to open a sole Barclays bank Account through the app between 9 June and 27 August.
They also had to complete these steps: Barclays excluded anyone holding a Barclays current account on 9 June, previous Barclays switch-bonus recipients and joint-account applicants. Basic-account-only customers and people switching from another Barclays account were also ineligible.
- Start a full Current Account Switch Service switch, which moves the old account's balance and payments.
- Transfer at least two active Direct Debits.
- Pay £2,000 into the new account within 30 days.
- Complete the qualifying steps during the offer period.
When should existing claimants be paid?
Customers who met every requirement between 9 June and 27 August remain in the payment pipeline. Barclays states that the £200 is due within 28 working days after eligibility is met. Working days exclude weekends, so the waiting period is longer than 28 calendar days.
Customers should count from the date they completed the final qualifying requirement, not simply the account-opening date. Keep records of the switch, Direct Debits and £2,000 deposit until payment arrives. If 28 working days have passed, contact Barclays with the relevant dates and account details.
What happened to the Premier reward?
The Premier promotion offered an experience worth up to £600 instead of cash. Barclays' Premier terms say that offer also closed on 27 August, but customers who completed the requirements during the offer period can still receive it. Applicants needed an app-based full switch, at least two active Direct Debits and £4,000 paid in within 30 days.
They also had to meet Premier eligibility through £75,000 gross annual income paid in, £100,000 in eligible Barclays savings or investments, or a qualifying combination. The experience reward was subject to availability. A Barclays partner had to email a unique redemption code, and Barclays warned that an incorrect customer email address meant no reward or substitute.
Does Barclays still offer any ongoing rewards?
Barclays still operates Cashback Rewards, but this is not a replacement £200 switch bonus. It provides retailer-specific cashback to eligible Blue Rewards members, Premier customers and qualifying personal Visa Barclaycard holders.
The value and payment timing depend on each participating retailer's terms. Readers should therefore check the individual offer before spending rather than assume a standard cashback rate or timetable on the official Barclays Cashback Rewards page.
Why the closure matters and what to watch
The promotion ended while Barclays was already gaining more switchers than it lost. Pay.UK's Current Account Switch Service dashboard recorded 52,527 gains and 33,993 losses for Barclays in the fourth quarter of 2025—a net gain of 18,534—but those figures predate the June–August 2026 promotions. That timing prevents a reliable claim that either 2026 reward caused the earlier net gain.
It also means prospective customers should not rely on an expired promotion when comparing accounts. Before starting any future Barclays switch, verify the live closing date, account type, previous-customer exclusions, deposit requirement and Direct Debit rules. An archived advert or an unfinished application does not establish eligibility under a closed offer.
