Barclays Bank Bonus Offers 2026 Guide: rates, eligibility, and deadlines; Key Facts and Questions to Ask

Barclays' documented £200 Bank Account switch bonus is closed; its deadline was 27 August 2026. The separate Premier offer also ended that day and provided experiences worth up to £600, not £600 cash. Customers who completed every requirement during the offer window may still be due a reward. Everyone else should distinguish these expired bonuses from Blue Rewards fees and savings rates.

Is the £200 Barclays bonus still available?

No. barclays says the £200 offer closed on 27 August 2026. It applied to qualifying accounts opened through the Barclays app from 9 June through 27 August 2026, according to the Barclays Switch Offer terms.

The deadline does not cancel rewards already earned. Someone who satisfied every condition during the offer window can still receive the payment after Barclays verifies eligibility. Opening an account after 27 August does not qualify for this documented promotion. Starting an incomplete application before the deadline was also insufficient because the terms imposed separate opening, switching, Direct Debit, and deposit requirements.

Who qualified for the Bank Account offer?

The offer covered new UK-resident customers aged 18 or older. They had to open a sole Barclays bank Account through the app and meet the switching requirements.

Key eligibility questions included: Barclays excluded customers who answered yes to either of the first two questions. Joint accounts, Basic accounts, switches from Barclays, and applications that failed the app or mobile-number rules were also ineligible.

  • Did you already have a Barclays current account when the promotion began?
  • Have you previously received a Barclays switching reward?
  • Did you open a sole account rather than a joint or Basic account?
  • Did you switch from a bank other than Barclays?
  • Did you apply through the app and satisfy the mobile-number requirements?

What actions were required for the £200?

An eligible customer had to initiate a full Current Account Switch Service, or CASS, switch through the app by 27 August. The switch needed at least two active Direct Debits and had to finish within 30 days. The customer also had to deposit at least £2,000 within 30 days of opening the account.

Meeting the deposit requirement alone did not replace the switch, Direct Debit, or account-opening conditions. Barclays says qualifying payments appear as "Switch Reward" within 28 working days after it verifies every requirement. The new sole account must remain open for payment.

How did the Premier offer differ?

The separate Premier promotion offered a code for dining, hotel, live-event, or family experiences worth up to £600. It was not a £600 account credit or cash reward, as the Barclays Premier Switch Offer terms make clear. Customers needed a qualifying switch and at least £4,000 paid into the account within 30 days.

The promotion also ended on 27 August 2026. Premier eligibility substantially narrowed the potential audience. Barclays says applicants need either £75,000 in gross annual income paid into the account or £100,000 held with Barclays across qualifying savings, investments, or both. "Up to £600" describes the experience offer's maximum stated value, not money available to withdraw.

What rates and fees should readers compare?

A switch bonus is a one-time reward; a savings rate and an account fee can affect value over time. Barclays' Blue Rewards information states that Blue Rewards costs £5 monthly and requires £800 in monthly deposits. The associated Blue Rewards Saver advertises 2.51% AER variable, but only for months without a withdrawal.

AER is an annualized savings-rate measure, while "variable" means the rate can change. At £5 per month, twelve paid months total £60 before savings interest is considered. Compare that cost with your expected interest and ask whether you can meet the £800 deposit rule and avoid withdrawals when seeking the advertised saver rate.

What happens during a full CASS switch?

A full CASS switch normally takes seven working days. It closes the old account, moves its balance and regular payments, and redirects payments sent to the old account, according to the Current Account Switch Service.

The CASS Guarantee covers interest or charges caused by switching errors. During the seven-working-day process, avoid creating new payments from the old account because they may not transfer with the existing instructions.
